Question: Why does DAC offer creative movement, ballet, modern and jazz, not other forms of dance?
Answer:
While other forms are beneficial, the traditional disciplines give a student a stronger foundation on which to build a broader skill base after the foundation is established. Too much variety can often mean too little expertise. Combination classes do not provide a wider exposure, only less mastery. A student cannot decide what they like if they have not been given a true sample of the art form. Classical ballet is the basis for most other dance forms and should always be in conjunction with, not put aside for, other forms of dance. Beware of the teacher who professes to be an expert in all disciplines of dance. Master teachers specialize in one dance form only, but must be knowledgeable of the others.
